The bearer of bad news is rarely greeted with friendship. This was a sad time for Jeremiah and for his country. We are dealing with a tragedy of a people, suffering the consequences of their own sin.
While very sad, I find it interesting how McGee is able to tie the events together and introduce us to Jeremiah, and his country’s place in the biblical account of history. Can you see how this account might weigh somewhat heavy on the conscience of the Jewish nation? I wonder what God is going to teach US in this book!
