My Takeaway Today from “The Bible Bus” Lamentations 1:12-3:4

The key word is Sin!
What do we do about it?
Everything that happened to the Jews during Jeremiah’s day was a result of their Sin.
We ask, “Why didn’t they learn?”
Do we?
We have the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem along with death and/or exile of the people as examples. Does it cause us to repent and change OUR ways?
Dear Lord, cause us to learn and turn to You when we study your Word and seek you truly through the power of Your Holy Spirit!

I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.

  1. My takeaway is that we should have a heart more like God’s Heart. God gave us a good example of this through Jeremiah. He wept because of the coming wrath. Jeremiah kept following God and warning the people, which demonstrated God’s mercy for His people. He wanted to give them every possible chance to repent before carrying out judgement. The people did NOT learn to obey, because they did not TRUST the Lord, and believe what God was saying through Jeremiah. The people did not trust because they did NOT have unshakeable faith. We, as a society, are no different than the people of the Bible. As Christians, we should be more like Jeremiah, following God with an unwavering faith, instead of the unrepentant people. Those stories are for us! For everyone!

    1. Dang Straight Becky! I agree. Kinda out of left field but I keep thinking that Public weeping by men was also accepted and expected much more in their culture! “Jesus wept!”
